OCC Noida First Meet Roundup

Participants at first meet of OCC-Noida have decided to meet regularly on second Sunday of every month.

For seeding, germination and thriving of Startups, a conducive ecosystem is essential. On April 13, 2008, the Noida chapter of Open Coffee Club met for the first time at Adobe Campus.

It was interesting to see that the unconference dug into some philosophical issues in addition to the much more predictable technology and business questions. Founders of tenCube, Diesis, ReviewGist and Mobicules discussed their core ideologies, experiences and ways that they envision for their ventures.

Some of the main issues addressed during the session:

* Effect of Location of Startups on their performance
Although in modern times of connectivity and accessibility, it is deeply perceived that Startups can locate their operations at low-cost regions. But it was discussed and a sense was evolved that proximity with the target markets can brighten the chances of Startups taking better decisions and building better business.

* IP issues in building applications around someone else’s data/content
Traditionally Content creators have been very conservative regarding the usage of their content by other businesses and we have read a lot about battles over copyright issues. During the meet, some of the participating startups discussed the strategies they are employing to model their businesses around third party content and attracting content creators to allow them the usage and that too without any costs.

* Desired Number of Co-founders
Aah ! has this ever figured as an issue or query on discussion table !!
Apart from discussing the the stuff like who can be good co-founders, etc., the group worked out on a ‘good’ number of co-founders and derived the following scheme: 2 is best and ideal | 3 is good | 4 is doable
But one threshold at which all were unanimous was: “One should not go solo“.

It was felt that this rendezvous got all participants excited and we hope that in the coming months we’ll have more curious, bigger and better community.
